The Department of History, Osun State University, Ikire Campus held a colloquium for its students.
The colloquium which was held yesterday, February 10th, 2020 at the ETF building started around 12pm.
The colloquium had in attendance Dr. Adesote, the acting HOD, Dr. Ibiloye, Dr. Akande, Mr. Raifu, Mr. Gboyega and other staffs of the department.
The acting HOD, Dr. Adesote, addressed the students on the issues of payment of school fees, bullying, walking late at nights and withdrawal of students
He said, “No student will be allowed to write exam without payment of school fees which the management will not joke with
“If you are being threatened or bullied by anyone, report to your level adviser, you are all students and equal, there’s no seniority in the University system.
“Don’t walk in the midnight, don’t go out once it’s 9pm, it’s for your own good and interest.
“Information reached us that some students were withdrawn, withdrawal is not the end of life, you can go back to do JUPEB or IJMB, there are cases of many students that were withdrawn and went back to do IJMB.”
Dr. Ibiloye, however, buttressed Dr. Adesote’s words on bullying.
He said, ” You cannot bully anybody to be sent on an errand, no one can send you an errand without your consent”, he added
He advised students with health challenges from home to inform the doctors and nurses at the clinic in case of emergency.
“You cannot hide your health challenges from the clinic so that you will be taken care of, we are parents too and we don’t want to lose any of you in your academic pursuit here”, he said.
Mr. Raifu however warned the students against engaging themselves in secret cults and examination malpractice
“Don’t join secret cults, if you know any cultist, go and tell your level adviser, I can assure you, no one will reveal your identity
“Do not engage yourself in examination malpractice, examination is a sole business and not a partnership one.” – he said
