The Management of Osun State University has introduced startup fund for alumni of the institution.
This was revealed to Olofofo Uniosun by Mr Adesoji Ademola; Public Relations Officer of Osun State University. He revealed that the University is ready to assist any Alumnus of the University that has a bankable proposal with a startup fund to achieve his or her dream and thereby reducing unemployment in the society. Any Alumnus who has a good proposal should apply for a startup fund.
It will be recalled that the University has a student empowerment scheme which gives room for bona-fide students of the institution to study and work in the University. The beneficiaries of the schemes have been earning monthly stipends.
One of the beneficiaries; Winjobi Olajide, a 300 level student said that since he has been working with the University on this scheme, lots of companies and businesses have been calling him for jobs. Also, Ola Rebecca Audra who currently works in the Library Unit of the University lauded the University.
The Vice Chancellor of the University; Professor Labode Popoola however noted that the institution is still working on expanding the student empowerment programme to be able to assist more financially challenged students so that they don’t become disadvantaged acamedically while going through their temporary challenges.
“The Student Empowerment Programme has indeed been of immense help to UNIOSUN undergraduates either by way of providing the much needed extra income, discovering hidden abilities and potentials, or gaining work experience and that is why the University Management is raising the ladder by creating a startup fund for the Alumni.” he added.
