Osun State University, Department of Theatre in Ikire campus held an orientation programme for the newly admitted students of theatre arts.
The programme which started 12pm and ended at 2pm, was held on 6th February, 2019 in the University hall; ETF A, Ikire campus.
Professor Awodiya who anchored the programme oriented the freshers on the basis of the degree programme. He advised them to be focused and determined.
Also present at the event were Professor Olayiwola from University of Ibadan, Associate Professor Fasan who doubles as the Head of Department of English, Dr (Mrs) Akindele and Dr Atanda.
Professor Olayiwola admonished the students to be of good conduct. He told the students to attend rehearsals punctually and also they should not join cult or any bad association.
“We will invite UNIOSUN theatre students to come to University of Ibadan to watch any of our performance and also, students of University of Ibadan will be brought to UNIOSUN to watch any of your theatre performance” – he added.
The Head of English Department; Associate Professor Fasan while addressing the students commended Professor Awodiya for coming up with the orientation programme. The HOD urged the students to know the reason they are in school because they are paying huge amount of money as school fees. Also, Dr Atanda encouraged the freshers and further advised them to be disciplined.
While orienting the freshers on discipline, the Sub-Dean Students’ Affairs; Dr Akindele warned the students against indecency. She spoke on their mode of dressing which she further described the standard mode of dressing in UNIOSUN.
“We don’t allow big earing, dreadlock hair or multicolored hair. Soonest, you will be given the school handbook so that you can know the rules.” – sub-dean added.
It should be recalled that it was reported on Olofofo Uniosun that Theatre arts was part of the courses that NUC accredited in 2018.
